The 2-day training on Visualizing the Crisis: Climate Action through the Lens concluded today at MAJaC, marking the end of an inspiring learning experience for 15 photographers, filmmakers, journalists, and digital influencers committed to telling climate stories in The Gambia.

Day two kicked off with a presentation and structured critique session, where participants showcased photographs captured during yesterday’s field trip to climate hotspots. The session allowed participants to receive professional feedback and reflect on how their images communicate climate realities and community experiences.

Bukunmi Oyewole on Building a Sustainable & Ethical Practice, presenting opportunities for photographers
The lead trainer, Nigerian photographer Bukunmi Oyewole delivered a session on Building a Sustainable & Ethical Practice, presenting opportunities for photographers and visual storytellers to secure grants, residencies, collaborations, and advocacy. The session encouraged participants to see climate storytelling not only as a creative practice but also as a pathway for professional growth and social impact.

The training culminated in a roundtable discussion, where participants and stakeholders such as the Gambia Environmental Alliance discussed how storytelling can help mitigate climate change by shaping public attitudes toward the environment and influencing policy decisions.
The workshop ended with the presentation of certificates to all participants, recognizing their commitment to using visual storytelling as a tool for climate awareness and action.
